As part of the USAID Competitiveness Project, on May 21, in the NYUS amphitheatre, the representatives of Moja Kariera, Nenad Apostoloski and Tamara Rasevska held the first-level workshop dedicated to preparation of the students for future internship and employment.

NYUS as a partner of USAID – The Competitiveness Project has been invited to attend the conference “Promotion of the National Internship and Job Placement Program- My career” which will be held in City hallon May 15, 2009 at 13:00. The conference will be opened by Koce Trajanovski, Mayor of the City of Skopje and Pero Stojanovski Minister of Education and Science of the R.Macedonia. Participants are the representatives of the business sector and the academic world. NYUS staff and 15 students will represent our university.

NYUS is part of the Internship programs working group in Macedonia in organization of the USAID – The competitiveness project. In regard to this cooperation we are announcing open places for internship in Stopanska Banka and EVN for the NYUS student enrolled in second and third year of studies. NYUS STUDENTS IN THE KONRAD ADENAUER FOUNDATION WORKSHOP

Erlin Agic, Katerina Tumbovska, Vladica Maleska i Goce Gocheski, coordinated by prof. Vasko Naumovski, took part in a workshop organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and four other unviersities, marking the 60th anniversary of the German constitution. The very activity our students were included in was the workshop comparing the two constitutions: the German and the Macedonian.  Namely, working in different groups, they analyzed the similarities and differences of particular parts of the two constitutions. After the work in groups, they presented their outcomes in front of the other students, mutually learning from each other. The workshop was an opportunity for the participants to learn new things from their field of studies, and an occasion to establish cooperation links with colleagues from other universities in Macedonia.

The first Assessment Board for the undergraduate programmes franchised by Staffordshire University, UK was held on 27 Feb., 2009.  The purpose of the Board was to determine the marks and results of the students and to evaluate the general performance over the past semester.  At the Board the members emphasized the successful implementation of the Staffordshire University procedures and grading standards.

We are very proud to announce that a place in the final of the National Business Plan Competition held in connection with Global Entrepreneurship Week (17-23 November, 2008) has been won by NYUS Business Administration students Dusanka Dovicinska, Vladimir Georgievski and Gina Necula.  Competing with a large number very good plans from Universities all over Macedonia, our team’s project for a high quality day care centre for small children attracted the attention of the judges as did their brave use of internet marketing.  The final is on Friday 21^st November in Tetovo – we wish all three participants the best of luck!

Elena Marcevska, MFA, Teaching Assistant in Communication and Media Studies, won the Global Supplementary Grant funded by The Open Society Institute Network Scholarship Program. The purpose of the program is to enable qualified students to pursue doctoral studies in the humanities and social sciences at accredited universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America. Ms Marcevska already holds the prestigious Presidential Bursary for a 3-year full-time PhD Program at The University of Northampton. The PhD programme will start from September 2008.  

Viktorija Atanasovska, MSc, Teaching Assistant at Faculty of Business Administration, won the award for the best research paper in the area of capital market in Macedonia, at the 9^th Annual Conference organized by Macedonian Stock Exchange from 10^th to 12^th of April 2008 in Ohrid. In a solemn occasion the award was handed over by Prof. Jane Miljovski, PhD, member of the Macedonian Stock Exchange Board of Directors.

Kalina Maleska-Gegaj, - Teaching Assistant at the Department of English Language and Literature (NYUS) this month published a book of short stories entitled “The Naming of the Insect”. She also published a short story entitled “A House on the Drim River” in a US literature and philosophy magazine called “Janus Head” in January 2008. Ljubisa Stefanoski, Teaching Assistant at NYUS, as a member of the International Kopaonik School of Natural Law (Universitas Iuris Naturalis Copaonici), a  regular participant of the symposia  in 2005,  2006 and 2007 and author of  numerous works from the field of Intellectual Property Law, Civil Law, Family Law, Inheritance Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution, in December 2007  was awarded the "Littera Honoris Diligenti Membro"  (Certificate  for  Devoted  Member) due to  his contributions and efforts for promotion of principles of law.

Ljubisa Stefanoski, Teaching Assistant at NYUS, was an active participant in the one-year Tempus project „Towards EU standards for copyright and related rights law“, realized by the Centre for Intellectual Property Education in Skopje, the Centre for International Industrial Proeprty Studies (CEIPI) of the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg, the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki and the University of Maribor, which was concluded in October 2007. Within the project he has passed the exam as one of the best trainees and therefore accomplished a study visit in Greece.
